ICA Hosts Roundtable on Public Financial Accountability in Abuja
ICA recently convened a multi-stakeholder roundtable in Abuja focused on strengthening public financial accountability and budget oversight in African institutions.
Attended by senior officials from ministries of finance, members of parliament, and representatives from civil society and donor agencies, the event facilitated open dialogue on enhancing fiscal responsibility and transparency.
Key topics included results-based budgeting, legislative scrutiny of public expenditure, and citizen participation in budget processes.
“Our institutions need stronger accountability mechanisms if we are to build trust and improve public service outcomes,” noted Mr. Samuel Dube, Governance Advisor at ICA.
Participants identified practical strategies for improving budget monitoring and aligning financial planning with development goals. ICA plans to follow up with a technical support programme for selected agencies.
